West Cork Open Coffee 08 June 2011

News - Meetings

West Cork Open Coffee, 8th June 2011

12:30pm, Kingfisher Bar, Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery

It's that time of the month again.

After a joint event with the West Cork Development Partnership last month this month we'll revert to our usual informal networking, open discussion format.

As always West Cork Open Coffee is free and open to all, so come along, bring a friend, enjoy some business related chat, bounce some ideas around, exchange views and opinions and generally get to know the people doing business near you.

I look forward to seeing you there.

All the best,

Calvin!

E-Working networking event with the West Cork Development Partnership

News - Events

Join us on Wed 11 May 2011 for e-Working themed networking with the West Cork Development Partnership

West Cork Development Partnership LogoThe West Cork Development Partnership (WCDP) has been focussing on e-working of late -- a topic that's particularly relevant to many of us West Cork Open Coffee bods.

As a follow up a successful series of e-Working training courses around the West Cork region the WCDP is hosting a networking event in association with the May West Cork Open Coffee meeting to explore the e-Working theme a bit more, and to give us all a chance to get to know one another a bit better.

The WCDP event kicks of at 9:30am in the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbary on our usual second Wednesday (the 11 May), and runs until 12:30, when we'll continue with our usual informal West Cork Open Coffee meet up for May.

The event will consist of a number of facilitated workshops covering:

  • eWorking technology and software (including web and video conferencing) facilitated by Alfie Keary of Informa Europe
  • Online Marketing and Social Media for eWorkers facilitated by Calvin Jones (hey... that's me ;-) ), web content specialist and co-author of Understanding Digital Marketing
  • Work-Life Balance and Overcoming Barriers to E Working facilitated by e-Working specialist Ali Davies

The event is free and open to all, but for the WCDP element places are limited, so to reserve yours contact Lisa Cashman by 9th May at 023 8834035 or on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

As usual the West Cork Open Coffee free-form networking taking place from 12:30 onwards is completely open and doesn't require registration. Just turn up, bring a friend and stay as long as you like.

I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone.

See you next week.

Cheers,

Calvin!

April West Cork Open Coffee

News - Meetings

April West Cork Open Coffee Wed 20/04/2011 @12:30

As noted in the previous post this month's get together was deferred pending a potential joint event with the West Cork Development Partnership's eWorking group. Further discussion saw that joint event pushed out until May to give us more time to coordinate it properly.

All of which means we'll go ahead with our regular West Cork Open Coffee tomorrow (20/04) at 12:30 in the Kingfisher Bar of the Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery.

I realise that:

  • It's the Easter holidays and the kids are home from school
  • It's a week later than usual
  • It's the Easter holidays and the kids are home from school
  • The weather is unseasonably pleasant
  • It's Easter holidays and... etc.

But I'll be there at 12:30 on Wednesday, so if you can make it, it would be great to see you there.

Cheers,

Calvin!

April's West Cork Open Coffee deferred until 20/04

News - Meetings

Announcement: April's West Cork Open Coffee has been deferred until Wednesday 20/04/2011

I'm talking to the West Cork Development Partnership (WCDP) about a combined networking event incorporating West Cork Open Coffee and the WCDP's eWorking initiative. If it's a runner this combined event will feature informal Open Coffee style networking first, followed by a more structured WCDP hosted networking event with facilitated sessions on a variety of eWorking related topics through the afternoon.

It will be a great opportunity for the WCDP eWorking participants to tap into the experiences of people already using technology to work effectively from a West Cork base, and for West Cork Open Coffee participants to pick up some eWorking hints, tips and support.

Still working to confirm the details but will post more info here as soon as possible... it currently looks as if this will happen on Wednesday 20/04, 12:30 at the Celtic Ross Hotel, all going well.

West Cork Open Coffee March 2011

News - Meetings

Hi aConnect with other West Cork businessesll. Just a quick post to say that West Cork Open Coffee will be reconvening this Wednesday  09 March 2011 at 12:30 in the Kingfisher Bar of the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery.

This is an informal networking get-together, and a great chance to catch up with other local business people, exchange thoughts and ideas and connect with your peers face to face. As always it’s completely free and open to all – you just buy your own tea, coffee or beverage of choice.

As well as a chance to network with other business owners / entrepreneurs in an informal and relaxed setting, we also incorporate a bit of group discussion / debate into proceedings.

Some suggested topics for group discussion this time around:

  • Brainstorming: West Cork Open Coffee… where next? How would you like to see our group evolve and grow.
  • The election: what impact, if any, do you think political change will have on local businesses like ours?
  • … and whatever else you’d like to introduce.

These are just suggestions, and invariably the discussion moves onto other topics. It’s a fun way of exploring ideas, exchanging views and tapping into other people’s expertise.

So come along… bring a friend or colleague… the more the merrier.

I look forward to seeing you in Rosscarbery on Wednesday.

All the best,

Calvin!
